BS Energy Engineering

The Department of Energy Engineering aims to offer undergraduate and in Energy Engineering. Brief introduction to programs follows.

Program Overview:

Against the backdrop of energy crises in Pakistan, educated efforts are needed to meet the challenges. The School of Engineering is offering one of a kind degree program in Pakistan to play its role in national development and provide potentially immense opportunities to its graduates to become the forerunners and key players in the Energy future of Pakistan.
BS Energy Engineering is a multidisciplinary program that builds its foundation on Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and draws upon knowledge and applications from physical sciences, mathematics and diversified engineering approaches on Environment, energy resources, conservation and management.  The program would encompass both renewable and non-renewable energy production and their effects on environment. Thus graduates of this program will have a unique edge in the market place being equipped with the knowledge and required skills for the industry, both in Public and Private sectors.

Program Objectives

For building a better and bright future in Pakistan, School of Engineering is offering this unique degree program that aims at addressing the situation from a multi-faceted perspective. As service to the country and industry, the program focuses on providing the necessary skilled personnel for the currently crisis-laden but potentially flourishing energy industry of the country and building a better and long term Energy production and conservation infrastructure and policies. For students, it gives an opportunity to embark on a remarkable journey filled with potentially high job opportunities both in the domestic as well as in the foreign markets. From academic viewpoint, the program is intended to fill the critical gap in the domain.

Career Opportunities

The graduates of Energy Engineering program will be well prepared as competent professional engineers in the field. They will be trained in accordance with national and international requirements in the energy sector. In the domestic market, they will have ample opportunities in government and private sector. Water and Power Development authority (WAPDA), Distribution Companies, National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK)(including Energy dept., Dam Engineering, Environmental and Public Health Engineering, oil gas and industrial) , energy departments in Pakistan Industrial Trading Corporation (PITCO) Pakistan Atomic Energy commission (PAEC), National Development Complex (NDC), Communication and Works (C&W), Public Works Department (PWD), Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd., Sui Northern (Southern) Gas Pipelines Ltd. (SNGPL & SSGPL), and Pak Arab Refinery Ltd.  Alternate Energy Development board (AEDB), National Energy Conservation Centre (ENERCON), Pakistan Council for Renewable Energy Technologies (PCRET) are just a few of the examples in government sector.
Independent power plants IPPs, existing and soon to be launched hydropower dams, and other alternate energy producing entities are potential employers of energy engineers. Moreover, different industries, including textile, automotive manufacturers/assemblers like Honda, Toyota, Suzuki, especially the Hybrid Cars and a number of motorcycle manufacturers/assemblers and their suppliers, fertilizer plants like Engro, FFC etc., multinational companies like ICI (paints and chemicals), P&G, Nestlé, Unilever, Schlumberger etc., manufacturers like Pak Electron Limited (PEL), Sabro, Dawood Hercules (DH), consultants and builders like Allied Engineering Consultants (AEC), DESCON Engineering, Etimaad Engineering Pvt. Ltd. etc., many other HVAC and Engineering Services Companies and companies in the related fields are to name a few of the potential employers for our graduates in the private sector of the country. In short, the Energy Engineering graduates would have immense opportunities on completion of their studies.
